The client need
The existing timber verandah had aged and was ready for replacement. The homeowners wanted a cleaner, more modern outdoor area that complemented the colours and character of their existing Berwick home.
Maintaining natural light was also an important part of the design. With the new patio extending approximately 3.8 metres from the house, the design needed to provide substantial weather protection without making the adjoining outdoor and indoor areas feel unnecessarily dark.

Our Solution
The existing timber verandah had aged and was ready for replacement. The homeowners wanted a cleaner, more modern outdoor area that complemented the colours and character of their existing Berwick home.
Maintaining natural light was also an important part of the design. With the new patio extending approximately 3.8 metres from the house, the design needed to provide substantial weather protection without making the adjoining outdoor and indoor areas feel unnecessarily dark.

Design & Features
The approximately 6.39m × 3.8m Outback Flat patio incorporates four translucent Stratco Rooflites throughout the main roof. A translucent twinwall section was also incorporated between the Stratco frame and existing house gutter to allow additional daylight into an area that would otherwise have required solid flashing.
Alpine was selected for the roof, beams and columns, complemented by Off White guttering and downpipes to integrate the new structure with the existing home's colour palette.

Project Management
Livin Renovations managed the transformation from removal of the ageing timber verandah through to the installation of the new Stratco Outback Flat patio.
Particular attention was given to how the new structure connected with the existing home. The colour combination was selected to complement the house, while the Rooflites and translucent twinwall section were incorporated to maintain natural light beneath the new covered area.
Project Outcome
The ageing timber verandah was replaced with a clean, modern outdoor area that feels much more integrated with the existing home.
Four Rooflites bring natural light through the main patio roof, while the translucent twinwall section between the Stratco frame and existing house gutter helps prevent the area immediately beside the home from becoming unnecessarily dark.
The Alpine and Off White colour combination complements the existing house, resulting in a brighter and more contemporary outdoor space while providing substantially improved weather protection.
