Project Overview
After downsizing to their new home in Bonbeach, the owners wanted to recreate the outdoor entertaining space they were missing.
Livin Renovations transformed the small, exposed paved area with a custom Stratco Cooldek insulated patio incorporating Rooflites, integrated lighting, a ceiling fan and provision for future powered blinds.
The design also improved weather protection and the existing rainwater arrangement while creating an open, comfortable entertaining area with room for a future outdoor kitchen.

The client need
After downsizing to their new Bonbeach home, the owners were missing the outdoor entertaining space they had previously enjoyed. The backyard had no covered area, leaving only a small paved space exposed to the weather.
Direct sun also made the adjoining living area very hot, while rain around the rear of the home was being directed towards the corner of the outdoor area.
They wanted a comfortable, protected space where they could enjoy BBQs, entertain family and simply spend more time outdoors.
Our Solution
Livin Renovations designed and constructed a custom Stratco Cooldek insulated patio approximately 6.74m × 3.0m, integrated with the existing double-storey brick veneer home.
A 50mm Cooldek insulated roof was selected to help reduce heat and lessen rain noise during heavy downpours. Three translucent Rooflites maintain natural light, while eight integrated LED downlights and a ceiling fan make the space more comfortable and usable throughout the day and evening.
Ceiling-mounted GPOs were also incorporated to allow powered outdoor blinds to be added in the future without unnecessarily reworking the completed patio.
Design & Features
The patio was designed to integrate cleanly with the existing double-storey brick veneer home while keeping the area beneath the roof as open and unobstructed as possible.
An awkwardly positioned upper-storey downpipe was removed and redirected onto the new patio roof. This removed an obstruction from the entertaining area and preserved valuable space for a potential outdoor kitchen in the future.
Stormwater from the new patio roof was connected to the nearest existing stormwater point, while the additional roof coverage significantly reduced the amount of rain directly reaching the rear walls of the home.

Livin Renovations managed the project from design through to construction, coordinating the Stratco patio installation, electrical works and stormwater modifications.
Particular attention was given to integrating the new structure with the existing double-storey brick veneer home while creating a clean, unobstructed entertaining area with provision for future additions such as an outdoor kitchen and powered blinds.
Our electrical contractor completed the integrated LED downlights, ceiling fan and ceiling-mounted GPOs, with an electrical compliance certificate provided on completion.
Project Outcome
The completed Cooldek patio transformed what had been a small, exposed paved area into a comfortable outdoor entertaining space that the owners have truly made their own.
The space is now set up for outdoor dining, BBQs, relaxing and family gatherings, effectively extending the usable living area of the home into the backyard.
The insulated roof provides protection from strong sun and rain, while the integrated lighting, ceiling fan and provision for future powered blinds allow the space to continue evolving with the owners’ needs.
