The client need
The homeowner had been dreaming of creating a dedicated outdoor entertaining area where he could spend more time enjoying his established garden.
Rather than simply adding a roof over the existing space, he wanted an outdoor area with room for different activities — a dining and sitting area, a dedicated space for his wok and BBQ, and a bar area overlooking the garden and fish pond.
The shape of the home and the way the client wanted to use the backyard led to an L-shaped patio design that could create these different zones while keeping them connected as one outdoor living space.
Our Solution
Livin Renovations designed and constructed a custom L-shaped Stratco Outback Flat patio that follows the shape of the existing home and extends across the outdoor entertaining area.
The L-shaped configuration allowed the available space to be divided naturally into areas for dining and relaxing, BBQ and wok cooking, and a bar area positioned to take advantage of the outlook across the existing garden and fish pond.
Translucent Rooflites were incorporated into the roof design to introduce additional natural light beneath the large covered area while retaining the clean lines of the Outback Flat system.

Design & Features
The L-shaped patio was designed to follow the existing home while creating separate but connected outdoor living zones. Three translucent Rooflites were incorporated to maintain natural light beneath the covered area, while internal beams were included to provide suitable mounting locations for electrical items the homeowner may choose to add in the future.
The patio was attached directly to the existing fascia for a simple, clean connection to the home.

Livin Renovations managed the project from design through to approvals and construction.
As the Cannons Creek property was within a flood-affected area, additional approvals were required before construction could proceed. We coordinated the required approval from Melbourne Water along with Report & Consent from the City of Casey.
Once the approvals were in place, we coordinated the Stratco design and construction of the custom L-shaped patio, including the fascia attachment, Rooflite positioning and internal beams to allow for future electrical installations.
Project Outcome
The completed patio transformed the outdoor area into the entertaining space the homeowner had been imagining.
The L-shaped design creates dedicated areas for dining, relaxing, BBQ and wok cooking, as well as a bar area overlooking the established garden and fish pond.
Three Rooflites help maintain natural light beneath the covered area, while internal beams were incorporated into the design so the homeowner can add electrical items in the future.
The result is an outdoor space designed around how the homeowner wanted to entertain, relax and enjoy the garden.
