The client need
The homeowners wanted to transform their existing outdoor area into a large, comfortable entertaining space that could be used throughout more of the year.
Increasing the roof height was particularly important. Rather than positioning the new patio low beneath the existing fascia, the design needed to create a greater sense of height and openness while still integrating cleanly with the existing home.
Our Solution
Livin Renovations designed a raised Stratco Cooldek patio using riser brackets to achieve additional roof height and create a more open feel beneath the new structure. Solid Colorbond flashings were incorporated around the connection to the existing home for a clean, integrated finish.
The patio uses 50mm Cooldek insulated roofing supported by 150 Outback beams and 90mm SHS columns. Three translucent Rooflites were incorporated to maintain natural light, while eight integrated LED downlights, fan provision and a heatstrip make the space more comfortable for both daytime and evening entertaining.
Construction commenced in late August and the new outdoor area was completed in early September 2026.
Design & Features
The approximately 9.7m × 5.0m patio uses 50mm Stratco Cooldek insulated roofing supported by 150 Outback beams and 90mm SHS columns. A riser-bracket design raises the patio above the existing fascia line, with solid Colorbond flashings providing a clean connection back to the home.
Three translucent Rooflites maintain natural light beneath the large covered area, while eight integrated LED downlights, one ceiling fan and one Heatstrip heater provide lighting, airflow and heating for year-round use.

Livin Renovations managed the project from design and documentation through to approvals and construction.
The design focused on achieving additional height while integrating the new patio cleanly with the existing home. Riser brackets were used to raise the roof structure, with custom solid Colorbond flashings completing the connection between the house and patio.
We also coordinated the electrical components, including eight integrated LED downlights, one ceiling fan and one Heatstrip heater, so these features were incorporated cleanly into the finished outdoor area.
Project Outcome
The completed patio transformed the rear of the Cranbourne West home into a large, comfortable outdoor entertaining area with a noticeably greater sense of height and openness.
The 50mm Cooldek insulated roof provides protection from the weather, while three Rooflites maintain natural light beneath the covered area. Eight integrated downlights, a ceiling fan and Heatstrip heater make the space more comfortable and usable across different seasons and into the evening.
The raised roofline and clean Colorbond flashing detail also help the new structure feel integrated with the existing home rather than simply added onto it.
