The client need
The homeowners wanted to add covered parking to protect their vehicles from Melbourne's sun and weather, but the existing sloping driveway and relationship between the house and front of the property made a standard rectangular carport difficult to achieve.
They needed a design that provided useful double-car coverage while fitting naturally within the available space rather than forcing a conventional carport layout onto the site.
Our Solution
Livin Renovations developed a custom angled Stratco Outback Flat carport designed specifically around the existing driveway and home.
The structural layout incorporated 150 Outback beams, additional internal beams and 90mm SHS columns to create the required spans while maintaining a clean, open parking area underneath.
Livin Renovations managed the project from design and documentation through the required permit process and construction, giving the homeowners a single point of contact from the initial carport concept through to the completed structure.

The carport uses a custom angled layout rather than a conventional rectangular footprint, allowing the structure to work with the existing driveway and home. The sloping driveway and available space required a more considered design than a conventional rectangular carport. We worked through the layout and structural requirements to develop an angled Stratco Outback Flat design that provided practical vehicle coverage while working with the existing home and driveway.
Project Outcome
The completed carport provides the homeowners with a large undercover parking area and substantially better protection for their vehicles from sun and weather.
Rather than allowing the site's unusual driveway geometry to dictate an awkward result, the custom angled design follows the available space and creates a carport that feels purpose-built for the property.
The open structural layout also maintains practical vehicle access and manoeuvring space beneath the new roof.
